Two weeks, real change.
This is trauma therapy designed for busy lives.
In our time together, we will work to create a space where you feel safe enough to face your trauma and work through the complex emotions—fear, grief, anger, shame, guilt, and injustice—that come with it. I’ll support you every step of the way with the tools and confidence you need to feel lighter, safer, and freer.
What is Cognitive Processing Therapy?
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is a structured, evidence-based form of cognitive-behavioral therapy designed to help individuals overcome trauma.
Typically delivered over 10-12 sessions, CPT involves working with a trained therapist to explore how trauma has influenced core beliefs about safety, trust, power, esteem, and intimacy. Through practical tools like writing exercises and guided discussions, you will learn to re-evaluate and shift unhelpful (and often untrue) perceptions, allowing you to develop healthier coping strategies and improved emotional well-being.
What is Intensive (or Massed) CPT?
Unlike traditional CPT, which is typically spread out over several months, intensive CPT condenses the treatment into a shorter timeframe by scheduling multiple sessions over the course of two weeks. This method allows you to focus intensely on recovery and get back to living the life you want to live! Intensive CPT maintains the core principles of standard CPT, such as identifying and challenging unhelpful thoughts, addressing trauma-related beliefs, and fostering healthier emotional responses.
Key Findings:
- Studies consistently show that intensive CPT is just as effective as traditional CPT in reducing trauma symptoms. This includes large scale randomized controlled trials.
- A notable finding regarding intensive CPT is how rapidly people experience a reduction in their trauma symptoms, with studies reporting significant reduction in as little as one week.
- The benefits of intensive CPT have been demonstrated to last! Studies have consistently reported that people who complete intensive CPT see a long term reduction in trauma symptoms.

Intensive program structure
CPT offers a clear and straightforward structure that paves the way for deep, meaningful discussions. Many clients find comfort in knowing what to expect from each session, appreciating the consistency and organization. Whether you're new to therapy or have prior experience, CPT equips you with valuable tools to reshape your perspective and process trauma with renewed confidence.
Want to hear from someone who has done it?
In this episode of This American Life, New York Times reporter Jaime Lowe documents her experience completing intensive CPT. While I recommend listening with care, as this story does discuss the trauma Jaime experienced, this episode provides a good example of what it is like to complete intensive trauma treatment.
